The Hell, You Say?
Just some recent hypocrisy from Vanessa Sturgeon
Gosh, I had hoped never to write anything else about bad-at-landlording TMT Development CEO Vanessa Sturgeon, but then she went and ran her mouth about government waste, war-time profiteering, derelict RVs, and “involuntary beggars.”¹
Apparently devoid of any sense of irony, Sturgeon² published her strange article just a few days after she defaulted on the loan for her Gear Building — you know, the property she hoped to refashion into a crisis center by accepting public funds: She sought a handout of $23.5 million from Multnomah County, the Portland Housing Bureau, and the state of Oregon.
The public sector wisely strode right past Sturgeon’s sad face and tin cup and complete lack of experience running a treatment facility, and now her $19.5 million loan for her fail-building is in default.³
All of this makes Sturgeon’s editorial all the more perplexing and duplicitous… How can you loathe government waste but simultaneously demand that they bail out private sector blunders? Does she want the Gear Building to be towed like a derelict RV? So many questions!
And Sturgeon has so much disdain for the homeless — people who have failed almost precisely the way she has, just on a vastly different scale.
Gosh. If only she had taken all the time she spent dragging the homeless — or hiring people to shoot them — and used it to collect aluminum cans, maybe she’d have had enough money to repay that loan.
¹ There is no clearer sign of Sturgeon’s contempt for the unhoused or poor than her use of the term “involuntary beggars.” Yes, she’s the same person who got irate that people were exchanging cans for cash during COVID.
² It has been suggested that Sturgeon’s article was written partially by AI. That may help explain a strange footnote, which claims that a statistic related to sex-trafficking relies on facts “according to TMT Development.” Is TMT Development doing sex-trafficking studies now? If so, why?
³ Technically, Sturgeon’s loan has been in default since October 20, 2023, around the same time that Sturgeon devised her ridiculous scheme to keep her credit score afloat by hounding well-positioned advocates into supporting her ridiculous scheme.
